Every two years, SFARP's Tours Department organizes and conducts an Adventure Series (In-Country) tour, which are 2- to 3-week travel packages to selected cities and archeological sites throughout Mexico. With more than 13,000 archeological sites to chose from, we have no fear of running out of exciting places to visit. Rather, owing to our membership's individual budgetary limitations, we dare not conduct these special tours more often. Please see our Tour Reports Page to learn about past tours.

A BRIEF HISTORY
SFARP is fortunate to have friends in the Travel Industy who provide rail, bus and air transportation at incomparably low rates. In the beginning, we traveled by private pulman and dome-equipped rail cars to Mazatlán, Guadalajara and Creel (jumping off site for Mexico's Copper Canyon tours). From Creel we bussed to Batopilas (Copper Canyon's lowest point), walked from Batopilas to the Lost Mission, and traveled by ferry between Mazatlán and La Paz.
Each Adventure Tour begins at our San Felipe Lodge where we board a bus and are delivered to an airport in Mexicali or Tijuana, depending upon our itinerary. We are then delivered to a key city from which our tours actually begin.
During one tour we flew to Los Mochis, traveled by rail to Chihuahua, and bussed to Zacatecas, Teotihuacan, Puebla, Oaxaca, Monte Albán, Veracruz, Palenque and Villahermosa. Upon our return, we were picked up at Mexicali's International Airport and delivered to our San Felipe Lodge.
During another Adventure Tour we visited Alamos, Guadalajara, León, Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende and Mazatlán. We rode a ferry to and went sight seeing in La Paz, whale watching in Guerrero Negro, oohed and ahhed in Puerto Escondido and enjoyed wine tasting in Ensenada.
These Adventure Tours are limited by the number of buses we use and the capacity of each. In our case, we prefer buses with a rear Service Center and rest room, a configuration that limits seating to 46 passengers. Consequently, one bus equals 46 participants, 2 = 92, et cetera although traveling with a larger number of participants opens the door to those businesses that cannot accommodate large numbers. In this case, we go back to the drawing board, plan our tours around the problem, and move ahead for your total enjoyment.
During our "bus time," in addition to seeing Mexico's natural beauty, we enjoy movies, soft drinks, cookies & coffee, properly planned rest stops, plus expedient and comfortable delivery to our goals.
We look forward to seeing you with us as we enjoy the best Mexico has to offer, its wonderful people, magnificent cities, historically important archeological sites plus flora, fauna and terrain most of us have never seen before.
